Individual Therapy

Whatever concerns or challenges you bring to the therapy setting, establishing a safe, contained, client-centred connection is the top priority. Through curiosity, creativity, and collaboration, I work with individual clients to determine the steps forward. Each client’s journey is unique, and that uniqueness is valued and honoured here. In addition to wholistic talk-based therapy, your treatment plan may include the following approaches:

Brainspotting

Brainspotting (BSP) is a powerful brain-based treatment for the rapid resolution of a wide range of challenging symptoms. BSP works by accessing points in the client’s field of vision which correlate to and help release unprocessed trauma in the subcortical brain. This is an effective treatment for trauma-based symptoms, as well as other common mental health concerns. BSP can help individuals overcome anxiety, depression, distressing experiences, and other challenges in a nurturing, contained way.

Nervous System Regulation

The nervous system is the network through which we experience life and manage stress and threats within ourselves and our environments. As our nervous systems adapt and respond to adversity, we can become stuck in a dysregulated state. In these states we may experience ongoing depression, anxiety, numbness, or other challenging symptoms. The good news is that we can work with our own bodies to come back into a state of regulation and safety, and to heal the nervous system itself.

A Somatic Approach

A somatic approach is sometimes referred to as a “bottom up” approach. For me, this means integrating awareness and connection to the body into the therapeutic healing and change process, for clients who are interested in this approach. This will be different for every person, depending on their unique experience, needs, and preferences. Some individuals may benefit from breath-work, somatic exercises, mindfulness practices, or integrating other body-focused practices into both therapy and daily life. As humans, our experiences are embedded within our nervous systems and can show up as physical symptoms. By attuning to what we experience in our bodies, we can open the door for deep healing and lasting change.
